Indigenous Art | It’s not what you think

Through conversations with people about art, the topic leans towards the mediums of canvas, paper, wood, or carving. I then realized through participating at many of my Nation events as communications. I realized that in every aspect of our culture, our painting, dancing, drumming, ceremony, storytelling, games, and performances. They all have artistic flare added into it by the individual. Through creativity and passion, people can show who their identity is and where they come from by the elements they add into parts of traditions or cultural practices.

In every one of the videos there is a different piece that shows you who the individual is, and you see the joy it brings them to practice the culture.

It was truly a pleasure to have my open my eyes to viewing St’át’imc culture and traditions in a new light. I cannot way to see more.
